Teachers, Students and Subsistence Farmers in Namaacha
Namaacha is a small village in Southern Mozambique, 80km outside the capital city. This village is characterized by its humble people, the beautiful mountainside landscapes and for being one of Mozambique’s main sources of bottled water. Unfortunately this village is remote, and so the people who live here are poor with very little means of transportation. Many people in this community are farmers, teachers at the local schools and orphans whose parents have passed away in mining accidents.
This Campaign will deliver 50 bicycles into the deserving community of Namaacha. This fundraise will directly change the lives of hundreds of people in this community with better transportation to reach schools, hospitals and the village market, which is very far away from where most people live and has minimal access from public transportation.
Mozambikes has organized 50 families to receive the bicycles, ranging across: -Teachers who walk over 15 kms/day to ensure their classes get taught, -Students who persevere through 3 hour walking commutes to continue their education and -Farmers who walk for hours to carry their crops to the local markets, with baskets on their heads.
In addition to the bicycles, Mozambikes will provide training to all 50 families on how to care for the bicycle and perform basic maintenance, and a technician workshop for two people in the village to earn sustainable incomes repairing the bicycles in their community.
