The Community Association for the Development of the Woman of Tsalala (AMTSALA) is located in the Matola district, in the administrative post of the city, in the neighborhood Tsalala. It was established in 2003 and legalized in February 2006 and is a Non Profit organization. The mission of the association is to help orphans (children), widows and single women living in extreme difficult situations.
AMTSALA in the past has provided food for disadvantaged families but due to the end of the funding from the World Food Program they no longer have the ability to support these families in poor communities. However, they provide educational and psychological support to the children, teaching them better practices of hygiene and also hospital regular checkups.
The organization has 65 members aged between 18 and 56 years. The activists exercise their activities in the neighborhood of Infulene, Tsalala and Patrice Lumumba, 3 times a week, aiming to help about 250 families.
To carry out their activities, the activists use unformal mini buses and within the neighborhood they perform their routes on foot, averaging 4km per route.
With this campaign, the GOAL is to raise enough for 10 bicycles. The bicycles will benefit the association and their members. Distances will be shortened and they will be able to save the money used for transport and to cover more people/patients in the same amount of time becoming more efficient.
