Mozambikes focuses on EMPOWERING individuals, achieving social IMPACT, and stimulating GROWTH in communities. Bicycles are a highly efficient form of transport that incurs powerful impacts on the economy and environment of Mozambique. Bicycles are not just transport – they provide access to healthcare, clean water, schools and jobs. They also provide independence for people and reduced vulnerability to increasing costs of fuels.

Mozambike is a uniquely designed, gender friendly, higher quality bicycle that has been modified over the course of five years to meet the needs of Mozambicans in rural areas. Find out more about our bicycle and its unique features below.
Lauren and Rui dreamed up Mozambikes while on a road trip throughout Mozambique. They were struck with the unavailability of quality bicycles and challenges to accessing a bicycle at all. They had both moved to Mozambique in 2008 on short term projects, only to fall in love with the country and its people. When they devised the model for Mozambikes, they knew they had a powerful model for change and threw themselves into the challenge of building a business, mass distributing quality bicycles and fighting poverty.
