One factory. One Dream. Thousands of stories.

Every Mozambikes journey begins in the same place: our factory in Matola. This is where the bicycles are painted, assembled, checked and prepared before they begin their journey into communities across Mozambique. But the factory is more than the place where we produce bicycles. It is where the Mozambikes model comes together: local employment, technical skills, quality control and the capacity to build solutions adapted to the realities of the people who will eventually use them.

Over the years, more than 75,000 bicycles have passed through this process and reached communities across the country. It is a number that represents more than a decade and a half of work, thousands of hours inside the factory and countless journeys made on two wheels.

For a child living in a rural community, a bicycle can mean getting to school without spending hours walking. For a farmer, it can mean carrying produce to a market that was previously too far away. For a health worker, it can mean reaching more patients. For a family, it can become the most reliable form of transport they have. And for a mechanic, it can become the starting point for a livelihood and a small business.

The same is true of the 375,000 lives impacted through our work. A bicycle rarely changes the life of only the person riding it. When a student reaches school more easily, the family benefits. When a farmer can reach a market, the household benefits. When a mechanic is trained and starts earning an income, the community benefits. Mobility creates connections, and those connections can have an impact well beyond the bicycle itself.

This is also why the people behind the bicycles matter so much. Mozambikes has trained 500 mechanics, helping people develop practical skills that can become a source of income in communities where formal employment opportunities are often scarce. Through initiatives such as Bike Negócio, the objective is not simply to make sure bicycles can be repaired. It is to create local economic activity and ensure that the investment in mobility remains within the community.

And it all connects back to the factory. The person assembling a bicycle in Matola may never meet the student who eventually rides it to school in Cabo Delgado or Nampula. The mechanic who services that bicycle months later may never know the story of the person who built it. Yet they are all part of the same chain. From the factory floor to the road, to the local workshop, the impact is created by many people working together.

Our 40 full-time employees are an important part of that story. They are the people who keep the factory and the wider operation moving every day, turning bicycles and components into finished products that can be deployed where they are needed. Their work is the foundation on which the rest of the impact is built.

And this is where our ambition for the next three years begins. We want to reach 150,000 bicycles, doubling the number of bicycles that have reached communities through Mozambikes. Achieving that will require us to strengthen our production capacity, expand our partnerships and continue investing in the people who make the model work.

Because ultimately, it´s not the target but about the impact behind it.

It is more children reaching school, more families connected to essential services, more farmers reaching markets, more mechanics earning an income and more communities with the ability to move on their own terms.
