Fernando Ribeiro is cycling across South America. Along the way, he is helping children in Mozambique get to school.
In May 2026, Fernando Ribeiro set off on a cycling journey across South America. He chose to travel by bicycle, taking on long distances, demanding roads and the challenge of crossing a continent on two wheels. But somewhere along that journey, his adventure became connected to another journey happening thousands of kilometres away.
Fernando is fundraising for Cycling for Education, a campaign supporting Mozambikes' goal of providing 100 bicycles to students in Mozambique who face long and difficult journeys to school.
It is a powerful connection. Fernando has chosen the road he wants to travel, while many of the children he is supporting have no choice about the distance they must travel to reach their classroom. For one, cycling is an adventure. For the other, reaching school is simply part of everyday life.
Fernando decided to use his journey to help make those journeys easier. And his story also shows something important about how people can support Mozambikes. You do not have to build a bicycle, work in our factory or travel to a rural community to make a difference. You can use what you are already doing to help create someone else's opportunity.
You can donate, helping put a bicycle into the hands of a child who needs it. You can share our work with your network, introducing Mozambikes to someone who may become a partner, supporter or donor. Or you can create your own initiative, challenge or fundraising campaign, just as Fernando has done, and use your own journey to help someone else's.
That is what makes Fernando's story so important to us. His bicycle journey belongs to him, but he has chosen to make part of it belong to Mozambikes and to the children we serve.
Your journey can become someone else's opportunity.Follow Fernando's journey. Share his story. Support Cycling for Education.
