As we celebrate the festive season, we are also celebrating a wonderful achievement for our partner organization, Helpo. Thanks to their Christmas Solidarity Gifts campaign, they have purchased 33 Mozambikes bicycles that will soon be delivered to secondary school students in northern Mozambique.
This is a very meaningful gift, as it will not only provide a means of transportation, but also a chance to pursue education and a better future. In the rural areas where Helpo works, many students face enormous challenges to access and complete secondary education. One of them is the long distance they have to walk to school, which can take up to 6 hours a day.
This not only affects their attendance and performance, but also their health and safety. Many students suffer from fatigue, dehydration, hunger, and exposure to extreme weather and wildlife.
By giving them bicycles, Helpo and Mozambikes are reducing these barriers and enabling these students to reach their full potential. Bicycles will shorten their travel time, save their energy, and increase their motivation and confidence. They will also allow them to return home earlier and have more time to study, rest, and help their families.
Bicycles are also a symbol of empowerment and dignity, especially for girls and women, who often face more discrimination and limitations in their communities. By riding a bicycle, they are challenging the stereotypes and norms that hold them back, and showing that they have the same rights and opportunities as anyone else.
We are very proud to be part of this initiative, and we are looking forward to seeing the impact of these bicycles on the lives of these students and their families. We are also very grateful to everyone who supported this campaign and made this possible. Your generosity and solidarity are making a difference in Mozambique.
Thank you, Helpo, for your amazing work and partnership. Together, one bicycle at a time, let's shape a brighter future for Mozambique!
